ok first cyclers last cycle there was this thing called loot it was fun, made terminally online people rich in like 2 days people called for revolution and putting more stuff onchain and building for loot guess what, it didn't work eth mainnet was expensive, primary town squares of that time, crypto twitter and discords were disconnected from wallets, reputation didn't exit guess what now fees are cheap now, building onchain is easy, farcaster is crypto twitter, discord and onchain reputation in one and there is energy around that one token go crazy, loot 2.0 (but this time it's different)

touching down in the US after 21 days of based around the world — want to share some quick reflections: 1. builder energy has 10x'd in the last year. in every country we touched down in — kenya, india, thailand, singapore, malaysia, philippines — hundreds of builders showed up to build the future. my mind is blown and i feel so grateful. thank you all for showing up to build with us. 2. base culture is attracting world-class leaders. in every country, people are showing up to build a global onchain economy and doing it in a based way. this is proving to be a filter for incredible talent: folks who are hard working, visionary, creative, optimistic, and excited to build the future. 3. if we're not on the ground, we're not in the game. we learned so much and made so many important connections being in every country. and it became really obvious how important being there really is. we're going to be 10x'ing our on the ground presence in 2025. ... cont'd in next cast

Merkle's priorities right now Team is 14 people roughly split into 3 groups Protocol — build and migrate to Snapchain to make sure the network can continue to scale; we also have a new FIP for SIWF Crypto — Frames v2 (FIP shipped last night); as part of Frames v2 we're working on making transactions buttery smooth Social — protocol and crypto don't matter if people aren't using Farcaster every day. Making progress on app performance, removing jank, iteration on channels (onboarding!), feed tweaks and DCs.

half-baked thoughts on current FC memecoin mania (of which i am a passive participant): the key difference b/w what's going on here vs pump.fun / X is our access and exposure; we get to be early and early more often because AI has made it easy for anyone to spin up a memecoin and get distribution all-in-one. more early access = more wealth, so ofc it will be embraced esp by those getting early access; there are still in vs out group dynamics. otherwise, its the same primitive (casino) just with enhanced features that improve trading efficiency; the built-in social context makes us trade more quickly and confidently bc we save time not switching from tiktok to X to pump.fun, verifying social handles, etc. degen and anon are most interesting to me due to their application (innovation; social tipping + zk account access) and integration (growth hack). note both were airdropped based on proof of commitment: degen for early active FC users, anon for supercast paid users. these are exceptions, not the norm.
