What is "modern" painting and what are its differences with classical painting? The image below is the work of one of the most important modern painters, Wassily Kandinsky. It is quite obvious that this painting is fundamentally different from what we know of painting in the classical sense. Where does this difference come from? Here, considering some of the most famous works of modern painting, we will mention five basic and important points in defining art and especially modern painting. As with any description of an artistic period, "modernism" and "modern art" are difficult to define precisely. This is why art categories are inherently controversial
