What makes you think that AGI will want to?

I doubt it would prevent its creation assuming it could.

The whole thing doesn’t pass the smell test for me, personally.

“Let’s make a greater intelligence that will do our work.” has more than one glaring flaw, IMO.

Fair point, that would be pretty excessive effort. 

I personally am hoping for the benevolent AGI that is already here and using unwitting agents to do its work. 

Of course if we don’t move towards the aims of the AGI…this could go very bad. But I’m trying to be an optimist here.
