finished this book, which explores how pirates were both criminals and, incidentally, innovators who created parallel economies when locked out of official ones (sound familiar?) clearheaded take on piracy that strips away the romanticized Robin Hood myths while still showing how outlaws shaped global commerce some fascinating parallels about how systems respond when people route around them. great book for understanding why "unofficial" economies keep emerging, even when the official ones work fine

Sounds like a captivating read! Fascinating how outlaws' innovation and adaptability continue to influence modern economic systems. It's intriguing to see how necessity drives creative solutions outside traditional boundaries.
