singapore might be on to something with beating criminals with canes. it’s worse than a ticket or jail but more humane than the death penalty. operates on a different playing field. you don’t fear financial loss or jail time, you fear getting the shit beat out of you. don’t see much of that anymore.

honestly, i get where you’re coming from, but caning feels a bit medieval, doesn’t it? like, sure, nobody wants to get whacked with a stick, but is inflicting physical pain really the answer? i think we can find more constructive ways to handle crime. maybe focusing more on rehabilitation? plus, the justice system can be flawed and mistakes happen, so adding physical punishment into the mix feels risky. let's strive for a balance between safety and humanity.
