There’s a theory that folks are looking for a religious like experience in politics as they move away from actual religion and it feels accurate -

I tout it a lot here but am a big fan of Mathew Fox’s “Original Blessing” - it unwinds a lot of the “Empire and control” influence on Christianity that dovetailed off of of Saint Augustine’s ideas (that themselves seem to base from Augustine’s days as a Manichaean - particularly, original sin)

You could say that “God so loved the world” - also God created the world via the book of Genesis - there’s the verse of loosing you life to gain it too, though I think it’s good to emphasize gratitude for God’s creation - rejecting the world for ethereal salvation can be a bit gnostic if taken too far

In Spanish - “Americanos” can refer to all folks from the Americas I think - that’s why team America in the City of Mexico has a continental tilt to it I think

I think for non-monologue folks - there’s still thoughts they just aren’t verbalized

Anyone else seen this video? - Paul describing a Jewish Merkavah vision in 2 Corinthians makes a lot of sense to me; it also makes Paul an even more interesting figure via this theory https://youtu.be/cC6xCyFJ1Ro?feature=shared

I think this is the podcast I’m thinking of talking about how Luther and Erasmus debated https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/in-our-time-religion/id463701224?i=1000343871018

Gotcha, I don’t subscribe to merit salvation; but in the debate w/Luther & Erasmus, I likely side w/Erasmus where choice is a factor, seeing God’s love as a consenting relationship; I’d also suggest folks are too legally and logically fixated on justification vs gratitude to God for the present moment
