Facetiae
Facéties are a literary genre that originated in Europe during the Renaissance, characterized by short, humorous stories, jokes, and witty sayings, often with a crude or obscene tone. The first printed book of jokes, Poggio Bracciolini's "Facetiae", was published in 1470 and has been widely reprinted. However, earlier manuscripts of this type existed, such as Albert of Strasbourg's "Libellus de facetiis Rudolfi regis", which contained anecdotes about Rudolf I of Germany. The genre grew in popularity, and many authors continued to print collections of facetiae in Latin and other European languages.
