Cruel vacation: Betrayal on the Magny-Cours highway

A photo taken in France in 1980 shows 140 euthanized dogs laid out on the Magny-Cours highway. The owners chose to kill their shaggy friends for the sake of a vacation, instead of finding a safe place for them.

All shelters and overexposures turned out to be overcrowded, and the "kind" representatives of the Society for the Protection of Animals (SPA) proposed a radical solution – to euthanize the animals so that they "do not suffer." This picture became a symbol of meanness and betrayal on the way to the sea, where vacation turned out to be more important than the lives of loyal pets.
