A U.S. District Judge in Manhattan has ruled that Coinbase must face a lawsuit from customers alleging the illegal sale of unregistered securities. The court determined that Coinbase qualifies as a "statutory seller" under federal securities laws, as customers transact directly with the platform. Claims under the laws of California, Florida, and New Jersey will also proceed.
