According to Jose Fernández da Ponte, vice president of the blockchain and cryptocurrency division of payment giant PayPal, Ethereum is not the best solution for payments. At the Solana Breakpoint 2024 conference, he pointed to Ethereum's inability to process high trading volumes and said that for this reason, PayPal has decided to launch its stablecoin, PayPal USD (PYUSD), on the Solana network. In August 2023, PayPal introduced its PYUSD stablecoin on the Ethereum network, but in May 2024, the stablecoin will be available on the Solana blockchain.
