How does one secure the future?

I was just hit with this thought as i was about to go to bed.
Is the future something that can actually be secured? I mean, we don’t even know what would happen the next second.

We should really live in the present (now), for the future doesn’t really exist, only plans do.🤔

We try our best I guess. Personally, though I know it might not be a good plan. I have zero plans for the future, I just enjoy the day, live life and leave tomorrow for tomorrow.
