Ruins of the Persian Kilwa Kisiwani dynasty on the coast of Tanzania. In the 10th century Iranians from Shiraz settled the Swahili region of Africa. The city-state of Kilwa was described as one of the most beautiful cities by Moroccan traveller Ibn Battuta.
