Southampton goalkeeper Joe Lumley will make his Premier League debut at the age of 29 – he will start against Brighton. Aaron Ramsdale and Gavin Bazunu are injured, and Alex McCarthy showed too much genius in goal in the last round with Liverpool (2:3) – he reminded me of Sergei Pesyakov from the Spartak era. For which he was sent to the reserve. Lumley was picked up last summer just in case – the last time Joe actively played at a normal level was at Reading in the 2022/23 season. Then he conceded 10.4 goals more than expected. Southampton goalkeeping coach Dean Thornton worked with Lumley in the youth team of Queens Park Rangers and recommended the goalkeeper to Russell Martin. The decisive factor was the play with his feet – it seems that Joe holds the ball well under pressure. Well, let's check it out today.
