The Army had (has?) an acronym for LDRSHIP: loyalty, duty, respect, service before self, honor, integrity, personal courage.  I think normies generally don’t consider it  or think it stupid, while for Vets it  is deeply tied to never leaving a comrade behind and completing the mission, which is bigger than one person
