actually dumb question but would it be possible to build a “Stories”-like product on top of fartcaster protocol? specifically ephemeral stories?

Yes, the wrinkle being the protocol is permissionless so someone can index everything.

yes. you could host the videos on a centralized service like aws and take the files down after 24h to make it ephemeral

ephemeral casts, sure (client just deleted the message after x time) but would probs need a standard to indicate that it's a special type of cast so other clients can handle it
