nah, this is just being early and patient and participating in the obvious "do this and be rewarded" part of the process.

i don't think you need much skill at all. every single one of the fan tokens i bought early on are up 2x minimum, and the ones i've bought recently are already up exponentially. i think you just need to make conviction plays. buy people you know are active, who aren't going anywhere, and bonus if they're also casting about moxie and understand the game being played.
