Everyone always recognized that. The purpose of low hw requirements is so that non-stakers, who are the most important demographic, can use ethereum (and not web2 pretend to be ethereum)

Things take time and recently has been the turn of fixing scalability, but hopefully next come work on prerequisites of neutrality: Censorship resistance, privacy, fungibility, accessibility of verifying the STF and reading state and doing so with privacy. We don’t even have a Tor ready full node.
