English Premier League introduces new iPhone-powered offside detection system 📱 The APL will introduce a new semi-automatic offside detection system powered by iPhones this season. The system, known as ‘Dragon’, uses dozens of Apple devices that capture video from multiple angles and process the data using specialised software. This tracks up to 10,000 points on each player's body, greatly improving the accuracy of offside detection. The technology will work as follows: phones that will be installed in stadiums will capture up to one hundred frames per second from different angles, but the developers claim that this number can be increased to 200. Even with a standardised workflow, though, Dragon is already outperforming twice the system that works in the APL. So, will there be calm and fair refereeing in the English Premier League?
