What is an order book (part 1/2) :

An order book is a tool that displays a list of current buy and sell orders for assets (e.g. cryptocurrencies, stocks) on an exchange in real time. The order book shows orders placed by market participants, indicating the prices and volumes at which they are willing to buy or sell assets.

How an order book works:

The order book is divided into two parts:

🔵Bids: These are purchase orders. This section shows the prices at which market participants are willing to purchase assets. The highest purchase price is usually at the top of the order book.

🔵Asks (offers to sell): These are sales orders. Here the prices at which sellers are willing to sell their assets are displayed. The lowest sale price is at the top.

Main elements of an order book:

🔵Price: The price at which market participants are willing to buy or sell an asset.
