Any recommendations here for gaining / maintaining Delta status?

The new MQD only requirement seems very tough to hit, especially for higher tier statuses (Diamond, etc.). 

Are the Delta credit cards helpful at all?

The Delta co-branded one?

Looks like they offer a MQD boost but it only covers a small part of the gap (~$2,500 or so).

Probably intentional on Delta's part that their isn't a simple solution - other than just spending more with their brand!

Also if you’re already going all-in on Delta it makes sense to get the Reserve card for the better earn rate (1 MQD per $10 spent) and lounge access (Delta Sky Clubs are great)

It’s also nice because you get perks (priority boarding, checked bags) just for being a cardholder even before you hit status each year

Yes! Would recommend getting 1-2 of the Delta credit cards since they give the MQD Headstart (2.5k MQDs each which will get you automatic Silver status if you get both) and earn 1 MQD per $10-20 spent (on anything)
