🌼 **Artist Spotlight: Jane Freilicher** 🌼
Today we celebrate the life and work of Jane Freilicher (Nov 19, 1924 – Dec 9, 2014), a painter who masterfully captured the beauty of both urban and rural scenes from her homes in Manhattan and Long Island. As a key figure in the New York School since the 1950s, she was a muse to some of the greatest poets of her time, including John Ashbery, Frank O’Hara, and James Schuyler.
Freilicher’s vibrant brushwork and intimate compositions earned her a place among New York’s artistic elite, alongside icons like Helen Frankenthaler, Joan Mitchell, and Grace Hartigan. In 1996, she was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Guild Hall Museum in East Hampton.
Featured here is her stunning work, **“Champion Flowers” (1999)**—a burst of life in oil on linen, capturing the delicate beauty of a bouquet with the cityscape as its backdrop. 🌸✨
