Giving my son peanut butter for the first time might be the most stressful thing I’ve done as a dad yet

Since I posted this, my son has been sick and also teething so there is no sleep to be found in our house for anyone lol. Maybe next week.

I spoke too soon lol. Last night he was up at 2am and couldn’t get himself back down to sleep. But those nights are definitely less common these days for us, which I know we’re incredibly lucky for.

He was a pretty good overnight sleeper from the beginning. About 2 weeks after birth, he would sleep 4 to 6 hours straight, and just wake up for a bottle. And now that he’s older, he doesn’t need an overnight bottle. The main challenge we’re working through is when he wakes up. Sometimes it’s 5:30am. Sometimes it’s 7am. I wake up at 5am either way, so my sleep isn’t interrupted, but getting some consistency there would be good, but we’re not sure what’s the best way to do that.

The first half of my paternity leave was marked by a lot of middle of the night wakings and feedings. It meant I was on here a lot. The second half of my paternity leave (spaced 4 months apart), was decidedly not that. I slept well and was not on any social media at all. It was quite nice.

For the last 6 weeks, I've been completely offline enjoying the end of my paternity leave. Just family time, good food, and some books. It was a really nice reset. But I'm excited to be back building and investing again. If you're a founder raising money at the pre-seed or seed stage, DM me!

@veekay definitely should be possible to integrate it! Depending on the exact approach, the level of effort could vary a lot. Would be great to jump on a call and discuss how you guys would want it to work.

Popular product wisdom: Build a vaccine, not a vitamin. Crypto is a vitamin in the US. It’s a vaccine in the developing world.

We’re traveling to see family for the next few weeks so won’t start till he’s 5 months old. I just wanted to start preparing. This is helpful though. Especially with self soothing transferring to other parts of life.

What did they do in sleep school to help him get to that point?

What are people’s thoughts on sleep training and the different methodologies? I’m trying to build my own perspective. For context, I have a 3.5 month old son. Until 2 weeks ago, when he got a stuffy nose, he got to the point that he slept 7 to 8 hours straight at night. Now between the stuffy nose and some leaps and regressions, he’ll vary between 3.5 hours and 7 hours before waking up. He doesn’t cry when he wakes up, and instead rolls around for 10 to 20 min before kicking the crib to wake me up. Trying to figure out the best approach to help him sleep through the night. And we have a solid go to bed routine in place.

Posted this on Twitter, but holds true on FC as well. My son was born 3 months ago. Since then I’ve posted very little. My followers have also increased by 20%. Apparently people like it when I talk less. Or at least bots do.
