A few months ago I wrote an essay for Far Near magazine (vol. 5) about how “resilience” means very different things, depending on who you ask. In the aftermath of the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster, resilience rhetoric was co-opted by the state—essentially as a strategic marketing tactic. In contrast, communities and activists from the ground up embodied resilience as informal networks of care infrastructure.
