♦️Christ among the Doctors♦️⠀ ⠀ 👨🎨By: Albrecht Dürer⠀ ⠀ ⠀ 📚 The topic is the Finding in the Temple episode from Jesus' childhood, found in the Gospel of Luke. In this episode, Jesus at the age of twelve accompanies Mary and Joseph to Jerusalem on pilgrimage. On the day of their return, they realised Jesus was missing, so they returned to Jerusalem. He was found in The Temple in discussion with the elders. They were amazed at his learning, especially given his young age. When admonished by Mary, Jesus replied: "How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?”⠀ In its use of half-length figures and the arrangement of heads around a focal point formed by the child’s face and hands, the composition clearly echoes contemporary Italian painting. Thus, the German artist skilfully blends the two Renaissance worlds of Northern Europe and Italy.
