The thing i don't get with passkeys: where are they backed up, what if i lose my phone. How can i add one to my desktop

So it's vastly the wild west, where you need to trust some random providers to offer functionality. Idk if it's the time for passkeys in crypto, where so many things are still hard to use

“how” and “what if” depend not on the passkey, but on the provider and service you are using. by and large passkey is going to be device dependent and sync reliant. that doesn’t mean it always is. variations include: daimo lets you do backups so you can use another device. if u use keychain doesn’t matter if u lose device.
