How often do you think about Floral Shoppe and why is it everyday? No, but really, what do you think about it? For me, it defines vaporwave as a genre which itself created the distorted 80s vibe that has influenced the last decade of film, TV and music The album is too niche, underground, and unlicensed to be an integral part of music history. Is it too niche to be an integral part of internet history? Do people even realize what an effect vaporwave, a genre born on the internet entirely without permission, had on modern aesthetics? Man, those old days of discovering truly weird and experimental music on Soundcloud and YouTube. It was the wild west and people weren't afraid to try anything with the democratizing tools of the DAW and an internet full of listeners. THAT is how internet culture should feel. Raw. Unfiltered.
