I tend to agree. @ace did bring up an interesting point the other day though.

Having at least 1 good friend tends to improve retention. Maybe we could focus the new user flow towards places where people will be more likely to meet that 1 good friend.

this. including pinterest, standard onboarding asks you to pick a number of 'categories' you like. 

but the thing is, that's a flat way to onboarding. showing real trending casts from real qdaus that fall into those categories feel like a much better shot. 

case in point. i love @july wisdom. @kevinmfer memes. @undefined projects. @nato-san food art. 

if you asked as a 'category.' i'd not pick wisdom, meme, projects, food.
