I want Farcaster to succeed as I think it is truly important for humanity to have a "global town square" based on a neutral protocol rather than a platform owned by a single company, or worse, a single person. Still, I keep switching my default behavior to post on Twitter, simply because I get ~10x more resonance on Tweets. I assume (at least in the crypto-Twitter world) I am not the only one in this situation. So maybe some form of vampire attack could work. Try to get at least 1,000 people from CT with >1,000 followers to commit x$ to post exclusively on Farcaster for 1 month. As soon as the 1,000 people are reached, the agreement kicks in and everyone should only post here. Those who break the agreement get "slashed," and the slashed money is distributed among those actually following through. WDYT?

Founder Archetypes: Jack Sparrow vs. James Bond PG has proposed James Bond as a model of what you're looking for in startup co-founders. The idea is that being calm, resourceful, and effective in a variety of adverse situations is more important than extreme competence in some single domain. I love the directional point, but I think that James Bond can be a pretty intimidating archetype: He is known for not only succeeding, but doing so always with style and charm. I think this is like asking everyone to be a great dancer. I recently watched Pirates of the Caribbean for the first time and it struck me that Jack Sparrow is another interesting model for founders: + He's confident he can run circles around the incumbent (the British Empire) since they've become too rigid and stodgy. + He's light-hearted in near death situations, since pirates are already default-dead. + He's fast-acting, rather than cautious, since he trusts his ability to wiggle out of bad situations when they arise.

There are ways to justify this (decreasing marginal tax rates are consistent with optimal tax theory, as you get the incentive effect without the reduction in revenue on the hours that people would work anyway), but in general I'm kinda worried about tax policy being driven by memetics. Becomes a complexity nightmare.
