Robert Koch was a German physician and scientist famous for his studies on microbial agents and his discovery of the tuberculosis pathogen, which is also called Koch's bacillus after him. In 1882, he described Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Louis Pasteur adopted some of his ideas but did not mention his name.
