My Apple headset prediction:

- Will be derided by tech Twitter, too expensive, no use cases
- People will say Steve Jobs would have never shipped it
- A bunch of people will buy it
- A whole bunch of neat indie apps will pop up over next year
- Gen 2 will be cheaper / better
- Gen 3 will be when it starts to take off

Skeptical about the release of the Apple reality headset for two reasons:

1) the XR industry has been anticipating the release of a device like this for nearly a decade. While it will set a precedent for what a competitor to the meta quest pro or varjo might look like

2) considering that the Apple Store takes a 30% cut from apps, is this headset really going to incentive developers within the Apple ecosystem?

Saw the grimes elf.tech nft drop last week and it made me think that the next AR/VR product might be a native product as well 👀

It may not have the same impact on the next generation of content creators as the iPhone 4 did for social media. Before virtual reality can become mainstream, we need more low-fidelity AR products to inspire creators and demonstrate the affordances that the technology can enable.
