Borax + water + sweetener like sugar or honey.

I forget the proportions but you’ll know it’s working when in 2-3 days you have hoards of ants slurping it up. After another 2 days they’ll be dead in their tracks; the borax expands in their stomachs and by nature they take the food back to the colony.
