GM craftsment. Tonight I went on a "stooping" mission to find any scrap wood on the side of the road for my desk project. Came across these (~40lbs/pc) 2.75in x9in x57in SLABS that will be jointed parrallet to each other for my next project: desktop, with build in cord management, building in wireless charging pads and more. This is douglass fir, and quite raw. How long should I wait to let it dry before cutting/ applying the hand planer/ electrical sander? /urbangarage

For freshly milled slabs of green logs, the rule of thumb is 1 year per inch thickness. But lots of variables including the average humidity where you live. (I’m also looking forward to seeing the photos)
