grade inflation at elite universities is out of control. university diplomas have long served as a credentialing mechanism for employers. hard to see how diplomas are a good proxy for competence given charts like this. time for a better mouse trap.

100% my sarcasm did not come thru, apologies. i'm boggled to see this tbh, not surprised per se, more so fascinated that it's continued at the rate it has for the last decade.

this is more of indicative of customer service. the students are paying all that money and want good grades, so now everyone gets good grades. No one wants to pay all that money to get a 2.8 gpa.
