I visited New York for the first time as a university student, i was around 20 -21.
I had to get a summer job, and somehow I found one as a waitress at a pizza place near the UN headquarters. I commuted on the Q train almost every day and would see the Brooklyn Bridge from the train window. Funny enough, the only time I actually went to see the bridge up close was for a date at night.
Living there wasn’t easy, but I loved the energy of this big city. I was ‘small’ but independent already, I’m grateful for this experience in many ways. Good and bad things happened, I found friends, visited places, was in love … 2 replies
