Vodafone has a controlling stake in Safaricom which created MPESA - the 1st mobile money system in the world (launched in 2007). MPESA transactions currently account for 50%+ of Kenya’s GDP.

The initial plans are to launch this crypto simcard in India where they have over 200M users - making them in the top 3 largest telecoms in the country
