The Chair That Will Never Be Filled Again
There’s a chair at the table that no one touches anymore.
It used to be their spot. The place where they sat, laughed, argued, lived. Now it’s just… empty. A haunting reminder of everything that was, and everything that will never be again.
You tell yourself it gets easier. That one day, you’ll stop expecting to hear their footsteps, their voice calling your name, their stupid little habits that used to annoy you but now---God, you’d give anything to have them back.
But the truth?
The truth is that time doesn’t heal. It just teaches you how to carry the weight. The pain doesn’t fade..it just gets buried under routines, small talk, forced smiles.
And then one random day, it hits you like a truck. A scent. A song. A stranger with the same laugh. And suddenly, you’re right back where you started, grief clawing at your throat, tears burning your eyes, staring at that empty chair, realizing that no matter how much time passes.. 1 reply
