Are you a current vim user? If so, then start porting over your config using Packer and start swapping out plugins with modern Lua versions.

If not, then I'd start with a "distro" that has a pre-built experience just to get a feel for what's possible, e.g. https://astronvim.github.io/

Also /r/neovim is great
