I just realized something that instantly made me a better guitarist. I thought great guitarists had to be able to do lots of complex awkward chord shapes, but that's not true. Great guitarists are able to avoid uncomfortable chord shapes. It's not sustainable to fight your body.

I avoid hanging out in shapes. Lately I’ve been doing a lot of taking typical caged shapes and changing them slightly until it sounds interesting. What have you been working on?
