Can you only bridge cbbtc to /base by going through Coinbase? am I losing my mind? that can't be right...

I just sent some cbbtc to my coinbase wallet on base the other day. What happened is I sent $10 of btc to CB wallet and it auto-converted to cbbtc for me.

yes but going from mainnet to base without going through the exchange doesn't seem to work?

Only through CB. Wouldn’t make sense any other way. CBBTC is a wrapped form of your native BTC created by depositing on CB like MakerDao/DAI then sending to Base.
