Heck yeah.  

You have two options really.  

Onion plants planted in the spring and harvested in the fall.  Or onion sets planted in the fall and overwintered for summer harvest.  

I prefer overwintering with my climate as it tends to give you larger onions although there is a chance of bolting if you have a weird winter/spring with a lot of temperature fluctuations.
