One’s level of apathy or radicalism is closely correlated to their screen time. The impact of this has hit Gen Z pretty harshly. I see it everywhere, in all professions, in all countries, across all political spectrums. This is why we need decentralized social media, as it is our chance to rid the world of the inevitable downwards social spiral led by misaligned incentives of web two business models. We are what we pay attention to, and right now, attention is being consumed by an onslaught of addictive, polarizing content that pushes the youth towards either radicalization or complete indifference. Ironically, this is primarily to keep us engaged long enough to watch more ads about mental health (e.g better help ads are very common). The old model isn’t just unsustainable; it’s dangerous. We need a more human internet, and we need it now.

Serious question that I've been struggling with... What is it with a decentralized social media that would inherently make things any different? It feels different but I wonder if things would just return to the mean once all the normies use it.
