Many Chinese tech industries are hyper-competitive compared to their American counterparts. and competition naturally leads to commoditization. so it makes sense that China's companies seek to commoditize American (and other countries') tech industries.

I wonder if the move for OpenAI would be to say fuck it and let you use any model inside ChatGPT. Win at the product level, and stay slightly ahead at the model level. If you have the best product that everyone wants to use, you benefit from commoditization of the models.
