questions for irl event organizers (specifically for hackathons): what are some methods to ensure attendance after registration? for insight: working on planning an in-person hackathon β€” last year we had a large # of signups, but 25% attended.

for farhack we waitlisted everyone first and then personally messaged to ensure they would commit to hacking before accepting. I personally don't usually hack because of the time commitment. obv things take time to build, but for example the sf frames hackathon hosted by @deform was not bad (1 day, 10am to 4pm)
