interesting thing just happened to me, I've been noodling on a side project idea for an AI recipe app and then I found that someone built exactly the idea I was thinking of.

So I tried it and realized I don't actually think I'd use it that often. And now I no longer care to build it myself. That was quite a speed run.

meta point, i would like to get better at figuring out whether id continuously use something before i invest weeks or months of free time into building it. maybe an unrealistic expectation

if it's any consolation, what does get more frequent as time goes on is this kind of "the need was obviated before i ever started building" tiny-victory ... but most often that's because im too slow or too late or i procrastinated too long, not because i planned ahead better 🙃
