Also, they missed a huge opportunity. They have my email. They could have had my *actual* social wallet. That's a hugely valuable connection to make. But nope, they have some stupid bitgo wallet I'll never actually use.

they do absolutely nothing to answer that question

I'd say it's more about the target. 

non-crypto users don't need to think about creating a wallet, storing the keys, paying gas etc.. they just made an easy way for you to buy a digital box. 

It's just a first onboarding for new users, so I don't think they'll stick with it.

I think you're right... these business teams just want to be seen as having done a web3 partnership, but they still don't get it!

I don't know why they specifically chose bitgo, but I think their strategy is/was to onboard non crypto natives slowly into this space and getting them used to the concept of wallets.
