At what point can we expect verkle trees + nearly instant sync for validators? This year? Or later?

I'd guess at least 2 more forks for stateless nodes (requires multiple steps).

For clients we are getting better light nodes: I'm a fan of https://github.com/a16z/helios and there's also some ZKP-based projects that can provide comprehensive yet compact state proofs.

For validators, PBS could help with smaller nodes.
