Coincidentally, I’ve had conversations this week with multiple people who unprompted mentioned using X as their go-to source for breaking news.

That's actually very possible, but it'd depend on many factors, number one being publicity. FC/Warpcast is relatively unknown, and to change that they need to do aggressive marketing to their target audience. Volume is how FC will become like X. At least that's how I see it.
