Ian Monroe was one of the most prominent figures of the first half of the 20th century, and his fame was one of the main factors that attracted Warhol's attention to him and created the idea of creating a painting based on his portrait. Andy Warhol, one of the pioneers of the pop art style, called "Shot Marilyn" by this actor, is one of Warhol's most famous paintings, and of course, one of the most famous paintings in the world, and even, according to many critics, one of the best examples and perhaps even the best example of American pop art.
