In a video address to the Digital Assets Conference in New York, US President Donald Trump vowed to make the US the undisputed Bitcoin superpower and the digital currency capital of the world. This is the first time a sitting president has spoken at a conference related to the cryptocurrency industry.

Trump reiterated his call for Congress to pass “innovative legislation to create simple and sensible rules for stablecoins.” He also mentioned his plan to create a US Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.

In a related development, Senator Loomis has introduced a bill that, if passed, would allow the government to buy $80 billion in Bitcoin. Meanwhile, Representative Donalds has introduced a bill in the House of Representatives that would allow the Treasury and Commerce Secretaries to add an unspecified amount of Bitcoin to the Federal Reserve.
