Maryam Mirzakhani was an Iranian mathematician and professor at Stanford University. In 2014, Mirzakhani won the Fields Medal, which is the highest award in mathematics, in the field of "dynamics and geometry of Riemannian surfaces and their cubic spaces". She is the first Iranian woman to win the Fields Medal.
